At-Home Injection Kit, featuring the Company’s first ready-to-inject liquid formulation with Niagen™ (patented nicotinamide riboside, or NR), the most studied, high-quality NAD+ precursor brand available, now available through its Niagen™ Plus telehealth platform.
NAD+ injections are increasingly available, yet no published clinical studies have evaluated subcutaneous (sub-q) or intramuscular (IM) NAD+ injections. In contrast, Niagen Bioscience published two pilot clinical studies of sub-q and IM Niagen injections on medRxiv. In these open-label pilot studies, injectable Niagen was well tolerated, including over 90 days of at-home use. Exploratory, self-reported outcomes were associated with reduced fatigue and improved sleep and skin. These findings require confirmation in larger, placebo-controlled studies (Nkrumah-Elie et al., 2026; Russ et al., 2026).
“The liquid Niagen At-Home Injection Kit is a meaningful step in building Niagen Plus into a scalable telehealth platform,” said Rob Fried, Chief Executive Officer of Niagen Bioscience. “Additionally, telehealth partners are central to how we intend to scale Niagen Plus. We believe a ready-to-inject format with fewer steps, backed by new pilot clinical data, provides a superior product for telehealth partners, extending reach beyond our own direct-to-patient channel.”
Each kit includes a sterile, multi-dose 5 mL vial with 500 mg of Niagen, syringes, and alcohol prep pads. Patients simply draw the clinician-prescribed dose and inject subcutaneously: fewer components, fewer steps. The program remains clinician-directed and prescription-only. Patients complete an online intake form, a licensed provider decides whether to prescribe, and if prescribed, the medication is dispensed from state-licensed 503A compounding pharmacies and shipped to their door. NiagenPlus.com is LegitScript Certified, an independent third-party certification for healthcare merchants and telehealth platforms.
Two open-label pilot studies evaluated the safety and tolerability of injectable Niagen in 39 generally healthy adults with elevated fatigue (Nkrumah-Elie et al., 2026; Russ et al., 2026). Participants were randomized to 50 mg or 100 mg of Niagen by IM or sub-q injection for three days under clinical supervision, then self-administered subcutaneous Niagen at home three times weekly for an additional 90 days. Building on the safety data, these pilot studies also feature the first exploratory findings on IM and sub-q Niagen injections.
Findings:
- Three days of supervised injections followed by 90 days of self-injection were well tolerated with no unexpected adverse events reported.
- At-home sub-q self-administered Niagen injections were achievable under protocol-defined conditions, supporting the feasibility of at-home administration.
- Blood NAD+ levels remained stable over the 90 days.
- Repeated Niagen injections were associated with improvements in fatigue, sleep impairment (e.g., daytime sleepiness), and quality of life, as assessed using validated participant-reported outcome questionnaires, as well as self-reported improvements in skin health.
- The study observed changes in markers of mitochondrial bioenergetics (efficient cellular energy production) and reductions in several oxidative stress markers (less cellular wear and tear). Because the study was open-label and not placebo-controlled, these findings are exploratory and require confirmation.
